In a dramatic World Cup qualifier, the Republic of Ireland secured a last-gasp 3-2 victory over Hungary in Budapest, clinching a play-off spot for the 2026 tournament.
Hungary started strongly, with Dániel Lukács opening the scoring just three minutes into the match. Ireland responded swiftly when Troy Parrott converted a penalty in the 15th minute to level the score. Barnabás Varga then restored Hungary's lead with a stunning volley before halftime.
