Bologna hold back Roma from earning a Champions’ League spot

Lukasz Skorupski worked hard for Bologna keeping the likes of Tammy Abraham, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Carles Perez at bay during their clash with AS Roma on Sunday. Even Marash Kumbulla had the chance to change the scoreboard in Roma’s favor but Skorupski did a fine job keeping the sheet clean. With the draw, Mourinho’s side is ruled out of the 2022-23 Champions League.

Mourinho's decision to rotate the squad after the Europa Conference League semi-final against Leicester City on Thursday did not go in his favor in Serie A. The draw gives good news to Napoli and Juventus who have managed to secure their place in the European tournament next season. Facing 13th place Bologna without Lorenzo Pellegrini, Rick Karsdorp, Chris Smalling, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan had a big impact on the outcome on Sunday and later also saw their last-ditch effort by Musa Barrow hit the crossbar during injury-time.
