After being held to a 1-1 draw by fellow top-five contenders Bologna, Juventus lost the opportunity to increase their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Khephren Thuram's early shot was neutralised by Remo Freuler's second-half goal at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, where the results were split. After just nine minutes, Thuram broke the tie by driving past Lukasz Skorupski and into the centre of the Bologna defence.
Both Andrea Cambiaso and Nicolas Gonzalez were disallowed by the offside flag as the Bianconeri attempted to extend their lead. When Juve failed to handle a ball in their own penalty area, Freuler pounced to score, giving Bologna the equaliser nine minutes after the restart. Both sides went close to winning it. Gonzalez saw a shot cleared off the line while, at the other end, Lewis Ferguson fired narrowly over in stoppage time, as the teams were forced to settle for a point apiece.
