Bournemouth's early goal disqualified Fulham from European qualifying berths

A terribly painful 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on the South Coast dealt a serious blow to Fulham's prospects of qualifying for Europe this season. After only 53 seconds, the Cottagers let up the game's lone goal, as a terrible defensive blunder allowed Antoine Semenyo to give the home team an early lead. They never gave up. With six games remaining in the Premier League, Bournemouth's victory allowed them to pass Fulham and move up to the eighth position. The two clubs are currently separated by a goal differential but have the same number of points.

The outcome followed Fulham's current streak of winning and losing in the league to eight games, which might be terrible news for Chelsea when they visit Craven Cottage on Sunday. Rewinding two months to mid-February and a 3-1 victory against Southampton, Bournemouth was extremely relieved to finally stop their six-game run without a Premier League victory.
