Ivan Toney scored his first goal in eight months to help Brentford defeat Nottingham Forest 3-2. The striker, who has been banned from sport since May for violating betting regulations, scored his first goal in 267 days. Toney was named captain for the day, scored an incredible free kick to cancel out Danilo's opening for Forest, and put himself back in the limelight for the right reasons. Brentford took the lead via Ben Mee, but seven minutes later Chris Wood equalized. Wood headed in Callum Hudson-Odoi's cross for his fifth goal in four league games under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Neal Maupay, Toney's attack partner, scored the winner in the 68th minute and Brentford celebrated their talisman's comeback with a much-needed Premier League victory after five consecutive defeats. The three points lift the Bees over their opponents and into 14th position.
