After eight years at Lazio, Italy striker Ciro Immobile joined Besiktas, the Turkish Super Lig club announced on Saturday. Besiktas and Immobile have inked a two-year deal, with Lazio allegedly collecting about €3 million ($3.27 million).
After moving to Lazio from Sevilla in 2016, the 34-year-old scored 207 goals to take the record for most goals scored by the team and even won the Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup twice. Immobile acknowledged that it was an emotional farewell at the airport on the way to Turkey when Lazio made his announcement about quitting the club on Friday. Immobile guided Lazio to a miserable seventh-place finish in Serie A following an injury-plagued season. Now the player moves on to the next chapter of his life at Besiktas and takes part in the top-flight Turkish professional league.
