Cole emotional for Man City star after seeing record broken
06.05.23 / 08:19
Haaland scored his 35th goal of the season in Manchester City's 3-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday.
This saw the 22-year-old set a new Premier League single-season goals record, previously set by Newcastle United's Cole in the 1993-94 campaign and equaled by Alan Shearer a year later - the pair scored 34 times.
Cole, who spent time with both Manchester clubs in his career, although he is best remembered for his time at United, is not precious about his place in the record books.
He told Stats Perform: "Records are there to be broken, it's that simple. When people bring it up to me, it's not like I'm going home and crying and saying, 'Oh no!'
"It doesn't bother me one bit, I don't care."
