Fortunately for managers such as Zinedine Zidane or Fernando Santos who actually won titles, Vicente del Bosque is no longer able to cast a vote for best manager of the season. Also fortunately for Cristiano Ronaldo who won the Champions League and the European Championship, Del Bosque won't be able to vote against him for this award in January. But that doesn't change that Del Bosque can give his opinion on who is the best in his view.
Talking to FIFA.com, Del Bosque has a clear idea of who the best are: "I'd love for one of the Spanish nominees to win it, truly, but I'd lean towards Simeone. I think that, beyond just this year, his track record over the last few years has been really impressive. He's given the team an identity, making it his team, and they've competed really well. I don't think I'd look further than him, though that's no slight on the rest of the nominees – I'd like to place on record that I hold them all in high regard."
When talking about the best player, Del Bosque has a harder time figuring out who he likes best: "Messi and Ronaldo have dominated it in recent times and I imagine that people will decide between the two based on allegiances to the shirts they wear. In my book, they've been the best."
