In the race to recruit Aston Villa striker Morgan Sanson, Crystal Palace, and other English clubs are competing with Rennes and Lille. Under Steven Gerrard, the midfielder is battling for consistent playing time. Sanson, 27, joined Aston Villa for £16 million in January 2021 but has only made 17 appearances for the club since then. Since Gerrard's arrival, he has only played seven times this season, starting only two games.
Douglas Luis, John McGinn, and even Marvelous Nakamba are all ahead of Sanson in the pecking order, while Jacob Ramsey's emergence has knocked Sanson out of the matchday squad on occasion. It's been a battle. Villa may decide to sell at the conclusion of the season, and Crystal Palace is one of several English clubs interested in signing the uncapped Frenchman. Rennes and Lille are interested in bringing him back to Ligue 1.
