Two of the candidates for the under-21 football Euro2023, France and England, debuted with a victory, against Italy and the Czech Republic, respectively, while Germany drew with Israel after wasting two penalties.
The Gallic team, which won by 2-1, took the lead in the 23rd minute, by the Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, but Pietro Pellegri, Torino striker, restored the tie in the 36th minute, a result that was recorded at halftime.
In the second half, the French returned to the lead with a goal from Lyon striker Bradley Barcola.
In group C, England and Germany dominated the matches against the Czech Republic and Israel, respectively, but only the English managed to win, by 2-0, while the Germans wasted two penalties and tied for a goal, even playing the whole second part in numerical superiority.
