Gaitan wanted to sign for Atletico 12 months ago

We can now finally rest easy and say that Argentine playmaker Nicolas Gaitan is an Atletico Madrid player, he got presented in front of the fans this Tuesday and brought hope alongside him which is really helpful for Atletico after what happened last season. This time, manager Diego Simeone seems to be making all the right choices and looks as eager as ever to begin the new tournaments.

Gaitan looked just as happy with his new arrival, he talked to the press during his first ever press conference as an Atletico player and revealed some news that nobody was expecting. The press asked him why he hadn't come earlier to the Colchoneros: "Because there was no agreement between the clubs. I can make a decision, but if they do not reach an agreement then a deal does not depend on me." he said.

The player doesn't shy away from the challenge of being managed by Cholo Simeone: "I know that it will demand a lot physically. It is a schooling I had already in Argentina, which demands a lot physically. I am coming from Portugal where we are not used to the physical [side of the game], we worked more with the ball. I do not know what I will find, but I hope to adapt quickly. I will adapt to what the coach asks me and I hope to live up to [his expectations]."
