Hertha Berlin takes over 10-man Union Berlin to win by 3-1
05.12.20 / 16:00
Hertha defeats Union in the Berlin derby by 3-1 ending Union Berlin's eight-game unbeaten run in Bundesliga. Hertha Berlin’s Peter Pekarik was gallant, saving Taiwo Awoniyi's first-half opener to deny Union a lead while Krzysztof Piatek's double goal helped Hertha in their aim to secure their first home league win of this season.
Union Berlin was reduced to a 10 men squad as minutes after Awoniyi’s managed to score for the team in the 20th minute, Union’s midfielder Robert Andrich was given a red card for his challenge on Lucas Tousart. Early in the second half, Hertha made a comeback when Pekarik scored in the 51st minute and late Piatek secured their lead by scoring three minutes apart in the 74th and 77th minute.
