How Mou must have felt about Fiorentina taking the lead

Not even three minutes into the Fiorentina-Roma match when the referee, at the behest of the VAR, gave a controversial penalty in favour of the 'Viola' team.

In the 3rd minute, Kardsdorp, on the edge of the box, tried to steal the ball from Nicolas Gonzalez, who went to ground as soon as he felt the slightest contact.

There appeared to be no more than that, a slight contact of the toe of the Roma defender's right boot against Nico's shin.

The referee initially signalled nothing, then received instructions from the VAR and the monitor came on and, a few seconds after watching the replay, pointed to the penalty.

It was not a good start to the game for Roma in Florence. After just 11 minutes, Jose Mourinho's side were already 2-0 down, although the coach has reason to be more than just angry with his team.
