Joao Mario expects to make history with Portugal

Just like Cristiano Ronaldo said after the victory against Wales, Portugal is not just one player, it's a whole group of hungry warriors who have bravely fought o reach their objective. With Ronaldo as their leader of course, but nothing would've been possible if it wasn't for the rest of the players. Midfielder Joao Mario who has played in every single match this tournament, believes they can achieve the title and keep making history alongside their skipper.

After the win against Wales, Mario spoke about manager Fernando Santos' prediction: "[Santos] has said since the first day that we would be in the final. He was the first person who believed and sent this message. We didn't win any games in the first stage. It was a warning. We didn't want to qualify in third place. Maybe we had a little bit of luck. But now we are waiting for a strong team and we will be prepared."

They are set to face France in the final, but for Mario the rival doesn't matter if they want to lift the trophy: "Our dream was to be in the final, whatever the opponent. We don't choose rivals. We did our job and now we will see which team we will play against. I am living a dream. Our group has always believed, we promised to be there. Now it is time to try to win it. Portugal has never won a title, and we hope to make history."
