Jonathan Clauss scores against his old team as Lens loses with ten men

OGC Nice easily defeated 10-man RC Lens 2-0 as Le Gym recovered from their shocking midweek loss to Stade Briochin in the Coupe de France. Nice had a strong start to the game and maintained it throughout. In order to keep the ball in play and pass it back to Hicham Boudaoui, who was trampled by Adrien Thomasson, Melvin Bard went around Neil El-Aynaoui, who was dozing off. Gaëtan Laborde completed the remaining tasks on the spot.

Lens was facing defeat after Facundo Medina was sent out for two bookings, but Andy Diouf's dash of the length of the field, taking on five Nice players before curling inches wide, provided the home team a timely reminder that the game was still alive. However, it was Jonathan Clauss, a former Lens man, who put the game to rest a few minutes later. The France international was able to score into the roof of the goal from a tight angle after a straightforward short corner routine.
