KOTOKO RECLAIM TOP SPOT WITH KARELA WIN

Kumasi Asante Kotoko moved to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table temporarily after recording a 2-1 win over Karela United on Wednesday afternoon at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

The win sees them go three points clear of rivals Accra Hearts of Oak who play against Legon Cities on Thursday evening and will reclaim the top spot if they win that encounter.

Kotoko took the lead through Emmanuel Gyamfi in the 21st minute but Taylor Diawisie put the visitors back on level terms in the 61st minute with his 17th goal of the season.

However, their joy was cut short after Kotoko regained the lead after they were awarded a penalty following a clash between Evans Adomako and goalkeeper Richard Baidoo.

Fabio Gama converted the penalty expertly to give Kotoko all three crucial points.

Kotoko next face Hearts of Oak in Accra on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Elsewhere in the Ghana Premier League, Dreams FC beat Techiman Eleven Wonders 2-1; WAFA beat Aduana Stars 3-2; Great Olympics beat Bechem 1-0 and Berekum Chelsea beat Elmina Sharks 2-1.

The game between Medeama and King Faisal was postponed.
