Krstovic opens the relegation fight, Lecce 1-3 Empoli

After one point from four rounds, the Tuscans were losing ground, as Tyronne Ebuehi, Ola Solbakken, Nicolas Haas, Saba Sazonov, and Pietro Pellegri were all hurt. With Andy Pelmard, Antonino Gallo, Medon Berisha, Hamza Rafia, Kialonda Gaspar, and Lameck Banda out, Lecce's list of absentees was much longer. The visitors seized the lead, Nikola Krstovic was unable to tap the goal in, but Tete Morente scored.

Lecce extended their advantage shortly later after Youssouf Maleh intercepted a flimsy play out from the back and chose to roll across rather than fire. Krstovic allowed Tete Morente's throw to bounce and slammed in the half-volley first time, taking the Empoli defense by surprise. Later, Krstovic sent a left-footed volley into the far top corner from the edge of the box, Lecce managed to hold on under pressure and score a third goal in stoppages.
