Lautaro Martinez on Ballon D’or nomination: “I deserve to be where I am”

Martinez had impressed last season, becoming the Serie A’s top scorer and also impressing in all competitions. He also won the Copa America with Argentina over the summer.
Following Argentina’s recent clash against Chile, Martinez spoke to TNT Sports about his nomination for the Ballon D’or and he stated:
“For the season I’ve had, I think I deserve to be where I am. Because I’ve worked hard and I’ve also suffered a lot in the previous years. It’s the second time that I’m in the final phase of the Ballon d’Or and I think I have what it takes to be there.”
Martinez had started the game against Chile before being replaced by Alejandro Garnacho. While he didn’t score, he found the back of the net five times in the Copa America.
