With this victory, Lazio stays fifth in the standing in Serie A, tied for 28 points with Atalanta, Inter, and Fiorentina. The win also records their fifth straight league victory and seventh overall, including cup games.
Bologna had gone nine games without a loss going into the game therefore, it was a tough encounter. Tommaso Pobega of Bologna was sent off in the first half which significantly changed the tide of the match in Lazio's favor. Lazio swiftly used their numerical advantage in the second half. In the 68th minute, Gigot headed a corner kick from Mattia Zaccagni to give Lazio their first goal of the season. Minutes later, Zaccagni extended the advantage with an excellent solo effort. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru completed the 3-0 thumping in the stoppage time.
