Lille climbs third in the French league thanks to Haraldsson's brace

Hakon Arnar Haraldsson, a midfielder for Iceland, scored his first two goals in the French league as Lille defeated Monaco 2-1, overtaking their opponents to take third position. Lille has 41 points, one more than Monaco and Nice. However, Nice, who are now in fourth place, have one game left and will play struggling Montpellier on Sunday.

At the Pierre Mauroy stadium on Saturday, Lille controlled the first half and were rewarded in the 22nd minute when Haraldsson ended the draw after a deft play. After being set up by Ngal'ayel Mukau, Haraldsson raced unopposed toward the goal and scored with a crisp shot from the area's edge into the far corner. Haraldsson later scored the second goal for Lille and put them ahead. However, shortly before halftime, Takumi Minamino grabbed one back to keep Monaco's hopes alive.
