Lorenzo Lucca’s penalty helps Udinese win against Lecce, 1-0

Udinese's 1-0 victory against Lecce in Serie A on Friday was marred by Lorenzo Lucca's altercation with teammates over his use of a penalty in the first half. Florian Thauvin, Udinese's captain, usually takes penalties, but Lucca snatched the ball and shoved teammates who approached to question his choice away.

As Udinese players argued with the former Pisa and Ajax striker, there was a lengthy wait before the spot kick could be taken. But Lucca remained composed and scored his third goal in five games with ease. The outcome gave Udinese another crucial three points, and they are now undefeated in their past four games following a five-game losing streak from Christmas to the end of January. The three points brought them within one point of Roma, who are now in ninth position. Lecce was still five points above the relegation zone in 15th place.
