In the opening match of the Premier League 2024–2025, Manchester United secured a 1-0 victory over Fulham at the Old Trafford stadium, thanks to a late goal from the team's newest addition, Joshua Zirkzee. Erik ten Hag's team defeated Marco Silva's Fulham team in the 87th minute of play thanks to a goal from United's new number 11, Zirkzee, after a very close game.
In terms of the Red Devils' advantages, Ten Hag had been trying to instill in the team a far more composed possession style of play, which United demonstrated in the game. Together with them were United's two other major summer additions, Matthijs De Ligt, who entered the game in the 81st minute, and Noussair Mazraoui, who began at left back. However, United's play against Fulham revealed a deficiency in their ability to finish clinically, as they missed many opportunities to score during the course of the match.
