After yet another season in which he played a rather little role, Mattia Perin has officially asked Juventus to sell him this summer. Perin has been the team's backup goalie ever since he returned from a loan stint at Genoa in 2021, without ever seeing any playing time. He is 32 years old and has made it apparent that he wants more playing time, something he believes Juventus is unlikely to provide.
Since his return, Perin's circumstances have been difficult. The experienced custodian sometimes saw action under previous manager Thiago Motta, who was Brazilian-Italian and rotated between Perin and Michele di Gregorio. But Igor Tudor's entrance drastically changed the situation. Tudor has consistently used Di Gregorio as his first-choice keeper when he is healthy, demonstrating his penchant for stability in goal. Perin's appearances thereafter declined precipitously, reaching a low of five Serie A games in the 2024–2025 season.
