Mikel Arteta will be cursing his fate after Gabriel Magalhaes was involved in a horrific incident while representing Brazil. The former Lille defender has spent the vast bulk of his Arsenal career in the starting lineup, but he has found himself on the bench for three of the club's first four Premier League games this season. Gabriel made his first start of the season in last Sunday's stunning home triumph over Manchester United.
Any momentum the Brazilian may have acquired as a consequence of his outstanding performance against the Red Devils, though, may have been quick as Gabriel was the victim of an eye-watering challenge against Bolivia. The Selecao won 5-1, but the Arsenal star did not play the whole 90 minutes and was seen with ice on his leg after the game. Gabriel took Bolivia's Diego Ibanez's right knee to his chest within five minutes of the match. If Gabriel is not fit to play for the next Arsenal match they would have to hit the drawing board again.
