Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen are continuing to sign as intelligently as possible in a bid to fill the vacancies left by the departures of Sardar Azmoun (Roma) and Moussa Diaby (Aston Villa).
The Bundesliga co-leaders, who beat Leipzig (3-2) and Borussia Monchengladbach (3-0) in their 2023/24 Bundesliga opening games, have announced the arrival of English striker Nathan Tella from Southampton.
On loan at Burnley last season, the 24-year-old was a key player in Vincent Kompany's promotion to the Premier League, scoring 19 goals, including 17 in the league.
On their official website, the German club announced that the Stevenage-born player "has signed a contract with Leverkusen until 30th June 2028". He has already said: "The team is the main reason for my decision. It's an impressive team that reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season. I really want to follow that path with Bayer 04 to continue."
