Olympics hold Dreams FC to move out of relegation zone

Accra Great Olympics played a goalless draw with FA Cup Champions, Dreams FC in an outstanding Ghana Premier League match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Wednesday’s result means Olympics have moved out of the relegation zone, with two games remaining.
Having picked up 39 points before today’s encounter, Olympics needed a result to boost their chances of Premier League survival.

However, the Dade Boys came up against a miserly Dreams defense who offered no inch all afternoon.
Oly who started the match in the relegation zone, played on the front foot but were repelled each time by Solomon Agbesi.

The Dreams goalkeeper was called into action by Isaac Mensah midway through the first half, but he responded with good reflexes to tip the ball to safety.

On the cusp of halftime, Agbesi was on hand to save the day again, this time, stopping Emmanuel Antwi’s goal-bound shot with a smart save.

Back from recess, Dreams tried to take the sting out of Oly’s sail with some smart passing, but they could not sustain possession.

The second followed the same pattern as the first, as Agbasi denied Olympics twice; first from Kekeli Attor’s header midway through the second half, and another one late in the game from Gladson Awako’s effort.

Olympics now need to win their remaining matches against Accra Hearts of Oak who they face on Sunday, and Real Tamale United on the final day of the season. Olympics have 40 points from 32 matches and are 15th on the league table, while Hearts have one point more than Olympics and are in 13th position.

The Phobians will end the season away to Bechem United.

Dreams, meanwhile, have moved to 12th position with 42 points, and have three games remaining. The FA Cup holders will play Accra Lions on Saturday, before facing Real Tamale United in an outstanding game on Wednesday. They will end the season at home against Aduana Stars the following Sunday.
