In an interview, Pedri emphasized the crucial role Flick has played in shaping his game and the significant impact of physical coach Julio Tous on his fitness.
Despite his youth, the 21-year-old has embraced the challenge of directing the team's play, especially after Flick urged him at the start of the season to "step up" as the engine room chief. Since Flick's arrival last summer, Pedri has overcome the muscle injuries that hindered his progress in the previous three seasons and, positioned slightly deeper on the pitch, he has taken on the role of orchestrator for a team capable of challenging for all titles.
"I really enjoy this position because I’m in contact with the ball, I touch it a lot, and I’m at the center of the game. I feel more comfortable and have learned how to position myself better defensively," he explained.
