After preliminary talks in the summer of last year, PSG mediators and Gavi's representatives decided to stay in touch. Moreover, he was already being considered for signing by sports adviser Luís Campos and club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi last summer. According to Transfermarkt, Gavi has a contract with Barcelona that expires in 2026 and has a transfer value of €90 million.
