According to a rumour, Real Madrid has made a bid to sign Manchester City centre-back Manuel Akanji as part of the Premier League team's ambitions to reassemble this summer.
This season, City has fallen far short of expectations. They are now in fifth place in the Premier League standings, 22 points behind champions Liverpool, and were eliminated from the Champions League play-off round after losing to Real Madrid. As part of a massive roster revamp that has already started, manager Pep Guardiola has openly informed many of his elderly players that they will be gone this summer. The January transfer window saw centre-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis join for a combined £63m, while midfielder Nico Gonzalez and forward Omar Marmoush also arrived for £50m and £59m respectively.
