"Ruud deliberately turned down other jobs to work at the club he loves most"

According to him, the interim manager had opportunities to coach elsewhere, but decided to reject any offer in the hopes that the Portuguese will incorporate him in his coaching staff. Ruud van Nistelrooy is supposedly devastated by his Manchester United exit, who will now be led by new boss Ruben Amorim. The interim manager was apparently hoping to make the cut in the Portuguese's coaching staff, however, with the latter's decision to opt for his own trusted team from Sporting Lisbon, the Dutchman is now without a club.

Andre Ooijer, who is a close friend of Van Nistelrooy and was part of his backroom staff when he was in charge at PSV, has revealed that his Dutch compatriot is devasted.

“Ruud wanted to stay as assistant," he said. Ooijer also revealed that prior to Amorim's decision, Van Nistelrooy had the opportunity to go elsewhere, but turned out offer.
