Schalke's victory drops Hertha to the bottom of the Bundesliga standings

Tim Starke's exquisite curl into the top corner in the third minute on Friday gave Schalke the perfect start. He subsequently served as a source of assistance for Marius Bulter, who in the 14th minute doubled the host's advantage by nodding in from close range. Stevan Jovetic's stunning goal just before halftime gave Hertha the advantage back, but Simon Terodde helped Schalke quickly respond early in the second half.

Before Marco Richter added a second goal for Hertha in the 84th, Bulter finished off his brace as well in the 78th. However, any potential conflict was averted when Marcin Kaminski curled a free kick over the defence to secure the victory in stoppage time. Hertha is currently last, two points behind Schalke, who is currently 16th and in the relegation play-off position with 24 points.
