The most popular football clubs of Myanmar: Ayeyawady United

Only Yangon United can match their tally although the Pathein team also boast a 100 percent record in the tournament finale.

Ayeyawady, however, have never been crowned Myanmar National League champions having finished as runners-up on three occasions, back in the inaugural edition in 2009 as well as in 2011 and 2019.

The club is also one of just three sides from Myanmar to progress beyond the AFC Cup group stage when, in 2015, they advanced to the Round of 16 before defeat to eventual winners Johor Darul Ta'zim. Their strong campaign was also the only time a team from their country has gone unbeaten in the group stage.

Captain Thiha Zaw has been at Ayeyawady his whole career and has previously provided glimpses of his talent in the AFC Cup while goalkeeper Thiha Sithu also spent his early years with the side. Former Macedonian international Riste Naumov.
