At 30 years old, Fernandes is one of the more experienced players in the squad, and his exceptional skill and consistency set him apart. However, he has recently hinted that his departure could be on the cards. Following United's Europa League final loss, Fernandes acknowledged that player sales will be necessary for the club to meet Profit and Sustainability regulations in the near future.
"I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go," Fernandes told reporters after the match. "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever. It is what it is. And football sometimes is like this."
