

Atletico Madrid is making their way towards the Champions League place as they drew up 2-2 with Villarreal in the Spanish League. The defending champions secured one point as the hosts frustrated them at Estadio de la Cerámica with the final result.
Diego Simeone’s team first went ahead with Angel Correa’s opening goal from the halfway line then Yellow Submarine answered after Gerard Moreno’s spot-kick was saved, Dani Parejo’s goal was ruled out but Pau Torres pushed ahead and scored one for Unai Emery’s side. Later in the second half, Alberto Moreno put Villarreal ahead and Los Rojiblancos had to rely on Geoffrey Kondogbia to put them back in the game with a two-goal draw. Atletico Madrid then gave way any chances of scoring a winning when Kondogbia’s was handed a red card in stoppage time.
