Wenger demands more patience for Lucas Perez

Arsenal was in dire need of a good striker who could be able to put Olivier Giroud to the test, Arsene Wenger had his sights in several names but many of them turned him down. The first one and most famous to say no to the Gunners was Jamie Vardy, then after him, many more names rejected Arsenal until Wenger could get a yes from an unlikely place. Espanyol had Lucas Perez, who is a decent goal-scorer but no superstar and he finally signed his contract.

But in order to watch his full potential, it will take us a little bit of time because he first needs to adapt to many things such as the weather, a new environment and even the language barrier. However, manager Arsene Wenger is feeling confident that this won't take too long but still he demands patience from all the fans who already want him to perform at his full potential.

Talking to Arsenal's website ahead of this Tuesday's match against Paris Saint-Germain, Wenger said this about Perez: "Let's give [him] time. We have scored goals since the start of the season, but we bought one more striker because we thought we needed one more. Let's give him time and not judge him too quickly. I think he got 17 goals last year. In the second half, I think he combined much better. It is not easy as well to start at home, the pressure is there for everybody and everybody has their eyes on them. You could see that especially with [Shkodran] Mustafi, because in the second half he was much more comfortable than in the first."

The Gunners are already in Paris for the next Champions League opener against PSG, it's still unlikely of Lucas Perez will start the match or if Wenger will give him his first start. According to what he just said, Lucas is still far from what Wenger expects but he is still confident this season will be successful for Arsenal because of players like him.
