The Hobart Hurricanes defeated the Sydney Thunder in a heated match at Blundstone Arena thanks to a hat-trick from Nathan Ellis as well as some fierce strikes from Tim David.
While Nathan Ellis got four wickets to hold the struggling Thunder to just 135, Riley Meredith claimed 2-14 from his four overs and struck out Warner in the opening over of the match. The Hurricanes brought down their total of 136 runs on Sunday with 23 balls remaining and five wickets left despite slumping to 3-20 early.
The victory moves the Hurricanes, who were heavily favored before the season, into a tie for fifth place with the Thunder in the standings.
