Given that both sides are actively seeking to recruit the midfield player, no agreement has been reached by either party. Tessmann had previously been the subject of negotiations with Inter Milan, but the transaction never came to pass. Although sources claim there hasn't yet been a personal terms agreement, Gianluca DiMarzio said that Fiorentina and Venezia have struck an agreement.
For the first time since 2000, Tessmann is guiding his country to the tournament's knockout rounds as the American captain at the Olympics. With the senior U.S. national team, he has earned two caps. In 2021, the 22-year-old moved from FC Dallas to Venezia for an estimated $4 million in initial compensation. He has played in three seasons of both Serie A and Serie B for the Italian club, totaling 99 matches. Tessmann played a key role in the team's promotion back to the top flight in 2023–2024. From midfield, he contributed three assists and six goals.
