Douglas Luiz acknowledges that he misses playing for Aston Villa after having a difficult season at Juventus. Last summer, Villa had to balance their accounts in order to adhere to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), thus they sold the Brazilian midfielder to Juventus for £42 million. After Tim Iroegbunam and Omari Kellyman were sold earlier, the team faced the possibility of losing double digits of points if Luiz wasn't sold before the June 30 accounting deadline.
With nine league goals and five assists in the previous campaign, Luiz was instrumental in Villa's ascent under Unai Emery. Despite having a contract with Juventus through 2029, the 27-year-old has only started six of his 25 games this season. Given how crucial he was in Villa's final third, it is surprising that he has yet to record a goal or an assist.
