Barcelona to appeal Flick's dismissal ahead of 'El Clasico'

Hansi Flick is set to miss 'El Clasico' for now, but Barcelona is determined to appeal his sending-off in Saturday’s Catalan derby against Girona, in the hope that he can lead the team against Real Madrid.

Flick received two yellow cards in quick succession for protesting the limited added time. Referee Gil Manzano sent him off, resulting in a ban for the high-profile clash. However, the coach and club are exploring every avenue to have him available.

According to Marca, Barcelona plan to challenge the yellow cards received, though it remains unclear whether both cautions will be contested or just one. The club’s argument is that Flick’s gestures, including applause, were directed at Frenkie de Jong, as the German coach explained in his post-match press conference, and not at the referee.
