Drama from the spot gives Atletico the ticket

It was an exciting Champions League Tuesday for Atletico Madrid, they needed a victory after not getting past the goalless draw against PSV at Eindhoven in the first leg of the tier. For the return leg at the Vicente Calderon stadium, the fans were ready to support their team in order to push them to the next round. Diego Simeone had previewed a very difficult match and the possibility to reach the penalty kick shoot-out, he wasn't wrong. PSV put things extremely difficult to the Colchoneros, the figure of goalkeeper Jan Oblak was instrumental for Atletico's chances.

The match was highly disputed, both sides had little chances and they mostly had a tremendous defensive display. But the 90 minutes came and the final whistle was sounded, we have over time on out hands and half an hour of extra football. But with the highly defensive match we were getting, the best thing was to go straight to the penalties, that's exactly what happened and the drama was served at the Vicente Calderon. Both sides were at the top of their nerves, one mistake would define the game's outcome.

It was precisely one mistake that PSV's winger Luciano Narsingh, he sent the team's 8th shot straight to the bar, this left Juanfran the chance to taste glory with his eighth penalty shot. The Spaniard right back sent his shot home and all the stadium with the players celebrated with a crazy men-mountain over the hero of the night. Atletico sealed their next round ticket and people in Madrid can rest easy after facing such a difficult foe like PSV was. The other match of the day was Dynamo Kiev against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, it was another goalless draw that gave the Citizens the ticket after the 3-1 victory in the first leg at Ukraine.
