Juan Carlos Osorio remains as Mexico manager

After Mexico got the worst defeat in their history against Copa America current champions Chile in a staggering 7-0 loss, the Mexican FA decided to have a long meeting with Colombian manager Juan Carlos Osorio to discuss his future. The Mexican press was divided as they usually are with this specific topic, half wanted to bring a new manager and even started to throw names in the mix. The other half wanted the Mexican Federation to keep Osorio in his post and not let this result tamper the work already done by the coach.

Apart from this painful defeat, Osorio has done a really good job in the World Cup Qualifiers taking the team to the competition's first place and leaving Mexico as the Concacaf's true giant. Although this result has been a bit extreme, the Mexican FA's board of directors have decided to leave Osorio on his post and have a little bit more patience instead of picking a new manager and start all over again. After a long meeting, the news broke quickly in the afternoon.

General secretary Guillermo Cantu, gave the latest news about Osorio's future with the Mexican national team: "Dismantling everything would be an error, which is why we've decided to continue with the project. If we trust in the methodology of a person, it is because those of us on the inside have seen it. The results at this Copa America were a failure, but the project is Russia 2018. In order to strengthen, we have to trust in the team, with its leader Juan Carlos Osorio."
