Juan Mata will have to suffer a salary reduction

The Daily Star is reporting that Mata introduce an offer for a new one-year contract with Manchester United, with its current contract set to expire this summer.

However, the same article states that Mata will have to agree to cut his weekly salary from around £170,000 to £100,000 in order to stay at Old Trafford.

According to the story, it remains to be seen whether Mata, the former Chelsea FC star, would accept the terms or if he would instead move from Old Trafford via free download.

The 33-year-old Spaniard has seen his starting opportunities at Old Trafford severely curtailed last season, as he has only made six Premier League games.
