Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has become the first Mexican to move to Europe since the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. His new club has yet to be confirmed, but everything seems to suggest it will be Salernitana.
'Club America thank Guillermo Ochoa for his commitment and dedication to defending America's colours with so much passion and leadership for more than 10 years in the first team," the most successful club in the country, with 13 league titles, wrote in a statement. Ochoa left Europe in 2019 when he moved from Standard Liege in Belgium to America, the club he came through the academy at.
As well as in Belgium, Ochoa played for Ajaccio in France (2011-2014) and at Malaga (2014-2016) and Granada (2016-17) in Spain.
The goalkeeper's contract at America had expired so he will join Salernitana on a free. They currently sit 12th in Serie A.
