Real Madrid to sign Paulo Iago

Doubts have emerged about reaching an agreement between Real Madrid and Iago, who signed a two-year deal last year. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, considered one of Real Madrid's top youth prospects, is attracting interest from various European clubs. Despite the club's attempts to extend his contract, Iago is reportedly disappointed with his current situation.

Iago's decision to sign only a two-year deal in 2023 indicated his reservations about his future at the club. Real Madrid fears losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires and is negotiating a short-term extension until 2026. Having joined Real Madrid in 2014, Iago recently played for Spain in the Under-17 European Championship. Despite limited playing time and Spain's early exit, he is highly rated within the academy. Currently, he plays for Madrid’s U-19 side, managed by Alvaro Arbeloa, and is seen as needing more patience to develop further.
