Roma, led by Daniele De Rossi, won their first local derby in almost two years and secured fifth place in the Italian top division for an additional week. Atalanta, who play at Cagliari on Sunday, is five points behind Roma, they also have a game in hand. Roma may be able to secure a berth in Europe's premier club tournament for the first time since 2018 with a top-five finish in Serie A.
Three minutes before halftime at the Stadio Olimpico, Gianluca Mancini made sure Roma would have the upper hand in the capital city. Mancini, the Italian defender, scored his fifth goal of the year following Paulo Dybala's corner to give Roma a well-earned victory. Lazio, who are now nine points behind Roma in seventh place, they have this weekend to catch up with Napoli, Fiorentina, and Torino, who visit Empoli on Saturday night.
