There is no doubt that without Luis Suarez during this season, FC Barcelona would not be fighting for La Liga at this stage of the season. Coming from a 5-match goal drought, the Catalan club found in the Uruguay striker their beacon of light that keeps them at the top of La Liga momentarily. They had already shown signs of recovery against Valencia last weekend, but bad luck and poor aim were a key factor that gave them their third consecutive defeat in La Liga.
A beast woke up in Suarez, who scored a staggering four goals and gave three assists in a not too bad day for him and his team, he appeared when they needed him the most no doubt. The goal fest started on the 11th minute as a corner came in from the left and Suarez muscled his man out of the way to get that first goal from close range, typical number 9 kind of goal to forget the blues from the last few weeks. Suarez continued his own personal party with a brilliant one-two with Messi that allowed the Uruguayan to tuck the ball in to double their lead on the 24th minute.
With this momentary brace, Suarez reached the 47 goals Brazilian Ronaldo scored in all competitions back in 1997. Thus becoming the third player in Barcelona's history to get this achievement, but his party was far from over. Two minutes into the second half, Suarez picked out Ivan Rakitic perfectly at the far post to start Barcelona's second half in style with an early third goal. On the 53rd minute, Suarez got his hat-trick as Messi slid a ball through for Suarez who poked the ball past the onrushing Fernandez.
Neymar entered the party as he gave an unselfish pass to Suarez to fire home at the second attempt, Messi had placed a ball over the defensive line to Neymar on the 65th minute. Then on the 73rd minute Suarez had quenched his thirst for goals and now was urged to give his teammates more chances to get past their own goal droughts, he gave a ball to Leo Messi who latched on to a ball into the box to finish cooly for the sixth Cule goal. Then out of nowhere ten minutes from the end, Marc Bartra scored a solo goal after coming from the back with a great deal of effort.
But Neymar still needed to get his goal, on the 81st minute he did after Suarez's third assist of the night, the Brazilian finished smartly to the far post for the eighth and last goal. It was a massacre in Riazor that Barcelona enjoyed and used to lick their wounds after the Champions League elimination and La Liga's horrible 4-match nightmare. Suarez is at the top of La Liga's goal scoring table and stays strong at the top of the assist table with 16.
