Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has undergone groin surgery and will not be fit to play again until after the winter break, Gunners coach Mikel Arteta has revealed.
The Spanish coach confirmed at a press conference ahead of the English side's Champions League game against Lens that the Portuguese "had groin surgery yesterday" and will be "out for a few weeks".
Arteta even gave a date for his player's possible return to action. "We don’t expect him back this side of the winter break," he said.
The 23-year-old has made 13 official appearances for Arsenal this season so far, although only three of those have been starts, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
