Barcelona Struggle to Finalize Frenkie de Jong Renewal as Free Exit Looms
Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong appear to have repaired their strained relationship, with the midfielder producing some of his best football for the club over the past nine months. Yet his long-awaited contract renewal remains unresolved. A new three-year deal, with the option for a fourth, has been under discussion, but negotiations have stalled. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona recently reopened talks with de Jong’s new agent, Sebastien Ledure, after the Dutchman parted ways with former representative Ali Dursun following a legal dispute. Despite the fresh dialogue, no agreement has been reached. This leaves Barcelona in a delicate position, as de Jong will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with other clubs in just four months. While both the player and the club have expressed a desire to continue together, time is running short to secure his future at Camp Nou.
