For an estimated €21.5 million, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic completed his loan deal to Napoli with a buyout clause. The goalie was cleared after arriving this morning for his medical examination. Napoli opted to pay a somewhat greater sum in order to have the possibility of spreading out the payment over many installments, even though his contract included a release clause set at €20 million. For this reason, this loan has a buyout clause at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old is related to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a former Lazio midfielder. The Serbian international has been in Italy since 2017 with Torino and has had loan periods with SPAL, Ascoli, and Standard Liege. Milinkovic-Savic has made 146 appearances in Serie A, recorded 45 clean sheets, and earned 19 senior caps for Serbia. The gloves will be up for grabs at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona between him and Alex Meret.
