Liverpool snatched a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace

While Crystal Palace's supporters jeered them off on Wednesday following a crushing 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, Liverpool had only lost one of their previous 26 Premier League games going into the match. However, Crystal Palace was superior for the majority of the match. Less than a minute after Jordan Ayew was sent off for two yellow cards, Salah's shot deflected home, marking the first time Liverpool had a shot on goal in 76 minutes.

Elliott's (90+1) excellent curling attempt was all that Remi Matthews, his replacement, could do to win the game in extra time. Jean-Philippe Mateta's penalty kick in the 57th minute gave the Eagles the lead. It was awarded by VAR around two minutes after the 20-year-old defender Jarell Quansah fouled him inside the area. Then, for his first Premier League goal of the year, he calmly tapped past Alisson.
